How do I support a park or city endowment fund?

Expand
  1. Visit the Donate to a park page and choose the area you want to donate to
  2. If you want to donate to a specific park type that park name in the Comments field when making your donation.
  3. Type in the amount you want to donate – this can be a one-off amount or a regular donation
  4. If you are eligible* please select a Level which includes Gift Aid – this means we can top up your donation at no extra cost to you
  5. Complete your donation payment by providing all the relevant information.
  6. You have the opportunity to sign up for updates from MyParkScotland

* Adding Gift Aid

If you are a UK tax payer, ticking the Gift Aid box means that we can top up your donation at no extra cost to you. You need to provide your address to enable us to claim Gift Aid.

Gift Aid is a Government scheme which allows charities to increase the value of donations made to them. Gift Aid makes a huge difference to small charities and local organisations, but if they aren’t registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator and HMRC, they can’t claim Gift Aid (and many that could claim Gift Aid don’t because they find the process too complicated). At MyParkScotland, we take care of the claim process on eligible donations, so that the Friends and community groups can concentrate on the great work they do in our parks.

Can I Gift Aid my donation?

Expand

Yes, you can add Gift Aid to any donations made through MyParkScotland.

Adding Gift Aid to your donation increases the value of your gift at no extra cost to you and is a great way to support parks. MyParkScotland uses its charitable status to enable parks and park projects to benefit from Gift Aid. This allows Friends groups, unregistered charities and community groups to benefit from Gift Aid.

For your donation to qualify for Gift Aid, you must be a registered UK tax payer, have paid the same amount or more in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year, and provide personal details for a Gift Aid declaration.

Where happens to my Gift Aid?

Expand

Adding Gift Aid to your donation increases the value of your gift at no extra cost to you and is a great way to support parks.

Adding Gift Aid to a £10 donation increased the amount claimed by MyParkScotland to £12.50

After paying platform and management fees, this typically means that an online donation of £10 becomes a park investment of £11.53 (after paying platform and management fees).

So the project receives your £10 donation and the ‘extra’ £1.53 is invested in the park endowment fund which supports the long term management of our wonderful parks.

How much of my donation goes to the project?

Expand

For most donations we are able to reclaim Gift Aid on your behalf from HMRC to increase the value of your donation.

After paying platform and management fees, this typically means that an online donation of £10 becomes a park investment of £11.53 (after paying platform and management fees). If you are donating to a project, the project receives £10 and the ‘extra’ £1.53 is invested in the park endowment fund which supports the long term management of our wonderful parks.

What fees does MyParkScotland charge on donations?

Expand

MyParkScotland is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered Scottish charity (No. SC045424). All fees we take go towards covering our operating and development costs. There are also some third party fees that we have to pay for processing your donations.

We work hard to keep our fees as low as possible to make sure the maximum amount from each donation is invested in the projects and parks you want to support.

Donation Management Fee – each donation made through MyParkScotland is subject to a 5% fee through for international donations this could be higher.

Processing fee – Stripe and GoCardless typical processing fee is 1.5% + 20p for standard UK cards. Fees for non-UK cards may vary.

For donations without Gift Aid, at least 92% of your donation is invested in parks.

Adding Gift Aid typically means that your online donation of, for example, £10 becomes a park investment of £11.53 (after paying platform and management fees).
